Harry Bullis, former chairman of the board of General Mills, used to give
his salespeople the following advice: “Forget about the sales you hope to
make and concentrate on the service you want to render.”
The
moment people’s attention is centered on service to others, they become more
dynamic, more forceful, and harder to resist.
How
can you resist someone who is trying to help you solve a problem?
“I tell our salespeople,” said
Bullis, “that if they would start out each morning with the thought, ‘I want
to help as many people as possible today,’ instead of ‘I want to make as
many sales as possible today,’ they would find a more easy and open approach
to their buyers and they would make more sales.
“the person who goes out to help
people to a happier and easier way of life is exercising the highest type of
salesmanship.”

Do
not resist. Immediately hand over
your wallet, your watch, your jewelry and anything else the mugger wants. . . .
Do not attempt to negotiate for your belongings; the longer you delay the mugger
the more impatient, and violent, he is likely to become. If you are held up in an isolated area, do not scream.
Chances are that no one will hear your cries for help, and they will only
enrage—or perhaps even worse,
frighten the mugger.

The

The Seven Deadly Sins
Truth, if it
becomes a weapon against persons.
Beauty, if it becomes vanity.
Love, if it becomes possessive.
Loyalty, if it becomes blind, careless trust.
Tolerance, if it becomes indifference.
Self-confidence, if it becomes arrogance.
Faith, if it becomes self-righteous.

In
this sad world of ours, sorrow comes to all, and it often comes with bitter
agony. Perfect relief is not
possible, except with time. You
cannot now believe that you will ever feel better.
But this is not true. You
are sure to be happy again. Knowing
this, truly believing it, will make you less miserable now. I have had enough experience to make this statement.

We are spiritual beings having a human experience.

Steps
a Person Can Take to Relieve Stress: Talk it out. When
something worries you, don't bottle it up . . . Escape for a while. When
things go wrong, it helps to escape from the painful problem for a while . . .
Work
off your anger. Do something
constructive with the pent-up energy. Pitch
into some physical activity or work it out in tennis or a long walk . . .
Do something for others. If
you feel yourself worrying about yourself all the time, try doing something for
somebody else . . .
Take one thing at a
time. Take a few of the most
urgent tasks and pitch into them, one at a time, setting aside all the rest for
the time being. Shun the "superman" urge.
No one can be perfect in everything.

My
personal definition of success is—“peace of mind which is a direct result of
self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you
are capable.”
Never
try to be better than someone else, learn from others and never cease trying to
be the best you can be.
Success
is not the key to happiness. Happiness
is the key to success. If you love
what you are doing, you will be successful.
The
secret of success is constancy of purpose.
- Benjamin Disraeli
I
can give you a six-word formula for success: "Think things through—then
follow through."
I
believe the true road to preeminent success in any line is to make yourself
master of that line.
It
is only as we develop others that we permanently succeed.
What is success? I think it is a mixture of having a flair for the thing that
you are doing; knowing that is not enough, that you have got to have hard work
and a certain sense of purpose.
- Margaret
Thatcher
Success,
real success, in any endeavor demands more from an individual than most people
are willing to offer—not
more than they are capable of offering.
- James Roche
The
person determined to achieve maximum success learns the principle that progress
is made one step at a time. A house
is built a brick at a time. Football
games are won a play at a time. A
department store grows bigger one customer at a time.
Every big accomplishment is a series of little accomplishments.
- David Joseph Schwartz, writer
To
be successful is to be helpful, caring, and constructive, to make everything and
everyone you touch a little bit better. The
best thing you have to give is yourself.

We are healed of a

A Creed for Those
Who Have Suffered
I
asked God for strength, that I might achieve.
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey . . .
I
asked for health, that I might do great things.
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things . . .
I
asked for riches, that I might be happy.
I was given poverty, that I might be wise . . .
I
asked for power, that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need for God . . .
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I
am, among men, most rightly blessed!
